What is JOLT?

JOLT is a high intensity interval training (HIIT) style program designed to create maximum results in a short, calculated period of time. It is based on true periodization – a systematic, progressive cycling of various aspects of a training program during a specific period of time to achieve the best performance results possible. Each phase of training will run for the duration of 4 weeks, progressing through a foundational “Base” phase, followed by a hypertrophic “Build” phase, and finishing off with a calorie-incinerating “Burn” phase. Each phase will emphasize the same type of physical adaptations for the 4 weeks, ranging from muscle mass to anaerobic capacity. The goal in mind is to make sure the body peaks at specific periods of time by improving each cycle along the way.

The bottom line? Real changes in measurable time frames with lasting results.

BASE. BUILD. BURN.

The science is simple: you can't burn body fat unless you have lean muscle.  you can't build lean muscle properly if you don't have a solid foundation to build upon.  That's where JOLT makes the biggest difference in your training.  Progressive programming to constantly challenge the body and as a result, to create lasting change.

Lots of studios talk about the "afterburn" effect which is reached by elevating your heart rate to a specific level for a specific period of time- and this is true.  However- if you're body lacks the proper lean muscle mass to make this effect happen, what are you really doing with your time and money in classes like that?

Don't waste your time or hard earned money on programs that only focus on just one or two methods of training.  A true, progressive, beneficial and well balanced program cycles in different types of training to cause a "JOLT" to your system.

How Does it Compare to Other Studios With a Similar Format?

You may be familiar with a very popular studio concept that focuses on EPOC and "afterburn" and utilizes treadmills and rowers and Heart Rate Monitors.  But the training style and philosophy is different with JOLT.

By having all 3 Phases of training, you get a more complete and balanced workout- not to mention a lot more variety in training!  For example, many of those studios do NOT offer Boxing as part of the program- and boxing and bag work has been proven to be a fantastic "calorie killer" and total body conditioning workout.  Our equipment offering is completely different than most studios- and this allows our coaches and trainers to develop programming that is unique and specific.  In addition, your Heart Rate training needs to vary- recovery heart rate is super important, but is rarely the focus of training at other studios.

Finally- the price point.  Why pay $160 or $170/month and just be limited to 1 type of training?  Here at Unique Fitness, our JOLT studio is just one of 3 specialty training studios at your disposal for MUCH LESS than the cost of your single focus studio.

CRAZY IVAN.

Crazy Ivan was a maneuver used by Soviet submarines to clear their baffles in order to see if they were being followed. The sudden, unexpected nature of the maneuver led to the term being used in the English-speaking world. 

As such, a JOLT: CRAZY IVAN week or session is just that- a sudden change to the program that could be left up to the Coach on that day: 50 rep sets, 100 rep sets or any other combination of sudden crazy movement patterns and training styles. This is designed to happen every 12 weeks or so and signals a change of cycles, back to Phase 1 BASE.
